They fear that without a certificate to prove that they can cook, they can’t write a coobook. Without a business degree they can’t write about running a business. On this blog I have often championed the brilliance of book reviews and love to share unusual methods for promoting your book. These days, for most authors, even if they find a publisher to handle their book, they will still need to do a lot of marketing themselves. PR professionals know that when they work with author clients their press releases and review copies need to get out there before the book is released. Newspapers and other media want to publish news that is new. They only want to cover books that are about to be released or published within the last few months. Twice I have been up for awards and both came as a complete surprise. Although it is an honour to receive such accolade, being recognised for my work has never been in my game plan. And just as I find myself returning to my own Middle East stomping grounds of Dubai and Oman (check out the Muscat International Mobility and Relocation conference in April), Robin regularly returns to the Far East.
